From a Guest’s Perspective

From a Guest’s Perspective

Today’s travel-savvy guests depend on public review sites, like TripAdvisor and Google+, for an honest look at hotels.   In fact, we know that most of our guests decide where to stay based on other’s experiences.   So we welcome reviews!  Here’s a recent review from a guest who stayed at The Gastonian.  Their words…but our photos added to give you a real feeling of a stay at The Gastonian.   Thank you to all of our guests who  take the time to write a review for us.  We know Savannah’s a fabulous place visit, and it truly means the world to us to know our guests think our Inns are special too!

Guest Review:  The Gastonian – November 2014:

“OK–first there is the building… actually buildings. This place is two mansions connected by a beautiful second-story outside walkway. Oh. My. God. Even this little part (the walkway) is GORGEOUS. It’s covered in beautiful ivy (I think it was ivy, anyway)… the buildings are simply amazing. Built in the mid or late 18 hundreds (I don’t remember the exact year) and they really keep it real–I would say they ‘play it up’, but it just didn’t feel played up–it felt REAL.

“One of the nights we were there (my wife and I stayed for four nights) I sat in the main room and I honestly felt like it was 200 hundred years ago. I don’t know how to explain it, it just felt like I was sitting in the 18 hundreds. The decor was simple, beautiful and the place is honestly filled with antiques (thus, no children allowed).

“Now, the food—-simply perfect. We were there while they were renovating the kitchen and they didn’t miss a damn beat. Breakfast was always perfect and I mean PERFECT, the evening ‘snacks’ and deserts were so good, oh my goodness they were so good. There were nights that we enjoyed the hors d’oeuvres at The Gastonian far more than we enjoyed diner out on the town (and that is not speaking ill of diner out on the town) and the deserts were… oi, they were so, so delicious.

Breakfast, hors d'oeuvres and desserts are included, and enjoyed, at The Gastonian.

“Lastly, the people… They were by far the best part of the experience. Every single person we had any contact with was so freaking nice and accommodating. Emily and I could not have been more–not only impressed, but completely surprised–when we ate breakfast late and in the kitchen rather than in the dining room the staff included us in their conversation AND didn’t change their conversation, they simply included us and it was so welcoming, each concierge we had even the smallest question for was more than happy to drop everything they were doing to make sure that we were completely ready to head out the front door on that day’s adventure… and one night my wife and I locked ourselves out on the balcony (wine was involved with that evening) and the evening chef ran to the rescue–literally RAN. I wish I knew everyone’s names, I really would very honestly give everyone a personal shout-out.

Not only ‘would we’ go back, we WILL be back next year and each year for as many as we can. We love this place. Thank you all so very much.

Room Tip: We stayed in a simple ‘Queen’ room. It was amazing.
